Responds to emergency situations and provides emergency medical care to any one in need. When not responding to an emergency, the paramedic is responsible for ensuring that the paramedic vehicle is ready for the next emergency and that all proper documentation has been completed for all responses.

Professional Qualifications | Work requires the knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts acquired through the completion of an Associate’s degree for Paramedics initially certified after June 2015. Work also requires a New Jersey Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic Certification and one year experience as a Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic. Certification in CPR, ACLS, PALS, ICS 100, ICS 200 and ICS 700 required. Certification in BTLS or PHTLS Provider and NREMT-P preferred. Valid driver’s license required, as well as compliance with Qualifications to Drive a System Vehicle as well as all policies as outlined in the SJHS Fleet Management & Safety Program. |
Responsibilities | Responds safely and efficiently to each dispatched emergency so that care can be delivered to the patients without delay. Provides competent care to all patients in accordance with current regulations and standards. Displays a professional attitude and respect towards the patients, bystanders, and other responders and hospital staff. Communicates clearly and concisely to dispatchers, other responders, and medical command physicians via radio, cell phone, and any other available communication devices. Documents both accurately and within the required time frames all patient care and required data entry . Replies to all quality assurance and patient care issues in a timely, respectful, and professional manner. Offers professional and constructive feedback and acts as a mentor to new staff members, students, Emergency Medical Technicians, and other responders. Completes all necessary non-clinical requirements such as restocking, cleaning of vehicles and equipment, obtaining dispositions, etc. Attends meetings, training sessions, and public relation activities in an effort towards improving the quality and success of the department. Meets all required competencies for department, unit and/or hospital. Responsible for performing all other duties as assigned. Special Projects |
